Trail Conditions – Updated Dec 29, 2012
All trails in the Springwater area are snow covered with 16 to 20 inches of snow. Dress appropriately. Snowshoes are highly recommended.
Wheaton Hill Trails: The Springwater Trails hiking group will be walking and doing maintenance on the Wheaton Hill trails from 2:00 to 4:00 on December 30th.

What is the saying? “When life tosses you a snowball, go skiing”.
Do you want to get out with your snowshoes or your cross country skis? Come join us on the Wheaton Hill Trails and take the opportunity to explore this wooded area. If you have a choice, we recommend snowshoes! Please dress warmly, but in layers since the hike will be hard work with all of this snow. If you plan to work cutting roses, bring heavy gloves, and snowpants and a pair of clippers. You may find a change of pants and shoes make the social more enjoyable.
This was planned as a trail maintenance hike. Because there is so much snow, our primary goal will simply be to pack down a trail that Mac and Duff can follow. However, hikers with clippers and hand saws will work on the Pine Trail, removing any Multiflora rose that sticks up above the snow, and any trees that have fallen across the trail. Continue reading
South Hemlock Lake DEC Parking area (42.668316,-77.592123) – Directions
A DEC parking area is located at the south end of the South Hemlock Lake Access Road just off of Rt 15A on the west side of the road. From the road you will see a boat launch sign for the entrance. This parking area is directly across the road from the Reynolds Gull parking area.
From Springwater: Follow 15A North from Springwater for 2.3 miles. The parking area is on the left.
From the Wheaton Hill / 15A intersection: Follow 15A North for 1.5 miles from Wheaton Hill. The parking area is on the left.
From the Johnson Hill / Old Bald Hill Rd South / 15A intersection: Follow 15A South for 0.3 miles. The parking area is on the right.
From Hemlock or Honeoye: Follow 15A South for 8.4 miles from the 15A / 20A intersection south of Hemlock. The parking area is on the right.
From Rochester: Follow East Henrietta Road (15A) south towards Springwater. 24 miles south of Rush, as you approach the south end of Hemlock Lake you will see a boat launch sign for Hemlock Lake. Take a right into the parking area directly off of 15A.
