Finger Lakes Trail Conference Cross-County Hike Series – Delaware County

Each year, the FLTC cooperates with affiliate organizations to sponsor a Cross-County Hike Series. The series includes several organized hikes, about one per month, that are intended to promote hiking on the Finger Lakes Trail. Many members use these hikes in their quest for End-to-End awards. When you register for a series and participate in all of the hikes, you will have crossed a major section of the Finger Lakes Trail. There is a modest registration fee that covers the cost of transportation between the ends of each hike.

2018 County Hike Series – Delaware County

The 2018 county hike series consists of six hikes covering 62 miles hiking east to west on the FLT in Delaware County. All of FLT maps M29, M28, and M27 will be covered with a couple of miles on M26. We will end at the Delaware/Chenango County border.

Dates are April 21, May 19, June 16, July 14, August 18, and September 15. This is the third Saturday of each month April through September.

The registration fee covers transportation by bus that will shuttle hikers from their cars placed at the end point of each hike to the beginning of each hike. The series will end with a celebration picnic. Those that completed the hike series will receive a patch.

Cleveland Hill – Feb 11,2018

On Sunday there were sixteen hikers who enjoyed hiking in the West Hollow valley north of Naples, NY. Three naturalists stayed down in the valley hiking toward Gannett Hill for a close up view of the Beaver Pond. The rest of the hikers carpooled to Clement Rd and hiked up Cleveland Hill on the Bristol Hills Branch orange trail.  We had beautiful views from the two lookouts which have been cleared of trees.  Here is a picture of the Climbers looking east across the southern end of Gannett Hill at Hi Tor on the east side of Canandaigua Lake.

Ganondagan Hike, Dec 10, 2017

Although winter isn’t officially here yet, our hike at Ganondagan was definitely wintery, with light falling snow throughout the hike and finishing just before the earliest sunset of the year.

If you were able to join this hike, please add your pictures to the gallery below.
