Re: Election of Officers
In accord with the Bylaws, the annual meeting has been set for March 24, 2013 at 4:30 pm at Sugarbush Hollow in Springwater, NY. An important part of the annual meeting is the election of officers to hold the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The term for these positions is one year with no limitation on re-election.
The Nominating Committee has been charged by the Executive Board with identifying eligible candidates from the membership for these volunteer positions. The following represents a summary of some of the roles and responsibilities of each position:
- President: Responsible for general supervision of the organization. Responsible for establishing trail routes, negotiating with property owners and construction/maintenance of the Trail.
- Vice President: Assists the President and assumes the responsibilities of President when required. Provides general supervision of the hiking group.
- Secretary: Records minutes of meetings, provides for correspondence, and maintains all records.
- Treasurer: Responsible for correct and complete accounting and performs all banking. The Treasurer supervises fund raising and maintains the roll of members.
The Nominating Committee is seeking your input as it prepares the slate. Please identify those members that would do a good job in a given role. It’s certainly OK to throw your own hat in the ring. Your suggestions will be treated anonymously by the Nominating Committee, which is independent of the Executive Board. Our goal is to have your suggestions and comments by February 18, 2013 (please use the email address below).
If you would like more information or clarification on roles and responsibilities or the process, please send us a note. Remember that this is your group and its vitality depends on an active membership. There is a healthy amount to do in 2013 as the Trail grows, but many hands make light work so please dig in!
