The Great Allegheny Passage and the C&O Towpath

Linda and I got back from our bike trip (165 miles total) as the hiking group explored the Bristol branch of the FLT.

The bikers

Here is our self portrait before we started in Connellsville, PA

We rode from Connellsville, PA to Cumberland MD on an old railroad bed that they have converted into a bike and hike trail.  First, the website is fantastic and well worth exploring.  But the trail was even more fun, and best of all were the B&Bs where we stayed.

At Cumberland, we picked up the C&O Canal towpath.  This was quite a bit muddier, but it was fun to see the old canal and locks.

Just one more picture.  Before riding, we stopped at a Frank Lloyd Wright house called Falling Waters.  It was so great to see right after watching the documentary on the Boynton House here in Rochester.  It is highly recommended that you spend a few hours if you are in the area of Ohiopyle, PA.
